On Thursday afternoon, Nina took the bus home from school. She was tired. She put her backpack on the seat, closed her eyes, and listened to music.

The bus stopped at her street. Nina jumped up and ran out. The bus drove away.

Then Nina looked at her hands. They were empty. Her backpack was still on the bus! Her homework, her library book, and her lucky pen were all in it.

Nina ran home and told her mom. Mom called the bus company. A kind woman answered the phone. “We will ask the drivers.” In the evening, she called back. “Yes, a driver found a blue backpack. You can pick it up at the station.”

The next morning, Nina and her mom went to the station before school. The driver gave her the backpack. Nothing was lost.

“Thank you very much!” Nina said.

Now, on the bus, Nina always keeps her backpack on her lap. And she never closes her eyes.
