On Saturday, it rained and rained. Jack and his big sister Kate could not go to the park. So they played video games in the living room.
They played a racing game. Kate won the first race. Jack won the second. “One more race!” they shouted together.
Then — click. The lights went off. The TV went black. The power was out!
“Oh no,” Jack said. “Now what?”
Kate found a flashlight. Then she found an old box under the sofa. Inside was a board game with dice and little houses.
“Mom and I played this when I was small,” Kate said.
They played at the kitchen table by flashlight. Jack bought little streets and houses. Kate had to pay him rent. They laughed a lot.
After an hour, the lights came back on. The TV worked again.
“Do you want to play the racing game?” Jack asked.
“No,” Kate said. “One more board game!”
