What to look for

Coordinating (FANBOYS): for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so
Subordinating: because, when, while, if, unless, although, before, after, since, until, so that, as if, etc.
Correlative pairs: both…and, either…or, neither…nor, not only…but also, whether…or — click BOTH words!
Conjunctive adverbs: however, therefore, moreover, nevertheless, meanwhile, consequently, otherwise, thus

Note: conjunctive adverbs are technically adverbs, not conjunctions — but because they connect clauses, they're commonly included with conjunctions in identification practice. The punctuation rule is different too: conjunctive adverbs take a semicolon before, comma after, while coordinating conjunctions use just a comma. One conjunction per sentence
She is kind and helpful.
I want to go, but I am too tired.
You can have tea or coffee.
I stayed home because it was raining.
She smiled when she saw the puppy.
If you study hard, you will pass.
We enjoyed the picnic although it was hot.
It was cold, yet she wore no coat.
She worked overtime so that she could save money.
He acted as if he did not know me.
Conjunctive adverbs (semicolon + adverb + comma)
I was tired; however, I kept working.
It was raining; therefore, the match was canceled.
She studied hard; nevertheless, she failed.
He is smart; moreover, he is hard-working.
Meanwhile, the children were playing outside.
Correlative pairs (click BOTH words)
Both my mother and my father are teachers.
You can have either tea or coffee.
Neither the manager nor the staff knew.
She is not only smart but also kind.
I do not know whether to go or to stay.
Two conjunctions per sentence
She loves coffee, but he prefers tea, and they both like cake.
When the rain stopped, we left, but the road was still wet.
I went to bed early, but I could not sleep because I was anxious.
Although he was tired, he kept working until midnight.
She studied hard because she wanted to pass, and she did.
He will come if the weather is nice or his friends arrive.
The store was closed, so we came back later, and it was open then.
I will call when I arrive, and we can meet for dinner.
She is tired because she worked late, but she is still happy.
Three or more conjunctions
She made a sandwich because she was hungry, and her brother made tea while she set the table.
If it rains or snows, we will stay inside, but we will still have fun.
Both my brother and I love to read, and we visit the library every week.
When she arrives, we will eat dinner, and if there is time, we will watch a movie.
Mixed practice
It is late, but I am still working because I have a deadline tomorrow.
Although she was sick, she went to school, and she stayed all day.
He woke up early, so he could prepare breakfast before the kids got up.
We can go now or wait until they arrive.
I will buy either the red shirt or the blue one, but not both.
The food was excellent; moreover, the service was amazing, and the prices were fair.
